University Of Warwick Unveils £700m Investment Plan

University of Warwick has announced ambitious plans to invest £700 million into its campus.

The institute said it represented the largest single investment in its home in Coventry since it was founded in 1965.

Called the ‘Connect Programme’, its aim is to support innovative research, learning and collaboration in order to address global challenges.

It will focus on social sciences and STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and support an expansion in interdisciplinary education and research opportunities and new courses in both areas.

The investment will also support expansion of the university’s collaboration and partnerships regionally, nationally and internationally.

These will include teaching rooms and laboratories and it is hoped construction work will start within the next 12 months.

The university said it believed around 1,500 jobs would be created in connection to the construction programme over the lifetime of the overall project.

Further announcements on the Social Sciences Connect Programme will be released later this year.

Vice-chancellor Stuart Croft said: “The Connect Programme demonstrates how we are fostering curiosity and creativity and creating a lasting impact for years to come.
