Tech Firm AppLearn Acquired By US Group Nexthink

A Manchester software firm that was backed by the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund and worked with global giants like EY and IHG has been acquired by an American firm.

AppLearn was founded in 2011 and has won customers in 100 countries for its workplace software.

It has now been acquired by US software group Nexthink, which says AppLearn will help it grow its work in workplace software and digital automation – which Nexthink calls the Digital Employee Experience (DEX).

In January 2022, AppLearn announced it planned to create 60 jobs after securing an “eight figure” funding package via Maven-NPIF and Silicon Valley Bank. That followed an investment from California-based K1 Investment Management in September 2019.

In February 2022, AppLearn bought Slovakian digital adoption platform provider YesElf for an undisclosed sum.

Andrew Avanessian, CEO of AppLearn, said: “I’m incredibly proud of everything we have achieved at AppLearn. After identifying a market need for improved digital experiences, we’ve taken what was a family-run services business and transformed it into a pioneering digital adoption product leader that significantly improves the way people work with enterprise software. Combining two category leaders allows us to bring to market an end-to-end DEX solution designed to eliminate digital friction and drive ROI from software investments.”

Pedro Bados, co-founder and CEO of Nexthink, said: “Nexthink’s vision has consistently aimed to empower IT with full control over the digital employee experience.

“While maintaining an incident-free infrastructure is pivotal for employee productivity and satisfaction, the additional capacity to help employees learn, adapt, and extract the utmost value from their applications represents the crucial last mile of the digital experience.”
